U.S. Route 97<\/b> (US 97<\/b>) is a United States Numbered Highway<\/a>, stretching from Weed, California<\/a> to the Canadian border<\/a> in Oroville, Washington<\/a>. With the exception of Interstate 5<\/a> (I-5), US 97 is the most important north\u2013south highway corridor in the state. It serves two major population centers (Klamath Falls and Bend), and is the main corridor east of the Cascade Mountains<\/a>. While much of the highway remains in two-lane undivided configuration, significant sections have been upgraded to expressway<\/a> or freeway<\/a> status.<\/p>\n
